SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
MARCH 21, 2013

CALL TO ORDER:
A Special Meeting of the Board of Education for the Hayes Center Public Schools
District #43-0079 was held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in the Music Room at the
High School. Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication and
posted in accordance with the Board policy of giving notice of such meetings.
Notice of this meeting was given in advance to all Board members.
ROLL CALL-
President Anderjaska called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with
Superintendent Ron Howard, Board members Joe Anderjaska, Connie Brott, Britt
Hill, Eric Hill, Marian Richards and Bob Rosno present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those in attendance.
RECOGNITION OF
VISITORS: President Anderjaska thanked the large crowd of patrons for
coming. RECOGNITION OF OPEN MEETINGS ACT
POSTER -The Open Meetings Act Poster was in the room and recognized by
President Anderjaska.
ADOPTION OF THE
AGENDA: Rosno moved, seconded by E.
Hill, to adopt the agenda. Voting yes: Anderjaska, Brott,
B.Hill, E. Hill, Richards, Rosno. Voting no: None.
Motion passed 6-0.
AUDIENCE COMMUNICATION: Rosno moved, seconded by E. Hill, to have
audience communication for 30 minutes.
Voting yes: Brott, B. Hill, E. Hill, Richards, Rosno, Anderjaska. Voting
no: none. Motion passed 6-0.
Amanda Cox, Shelley Wilkinson,
Ashli Cox, Jessica McKinney, Aaron Broz, Amanda Johnson and Dusty Gaston
addressed the board with their thoughts on whether to continue with the possible
cooperative agreement.
DISCUSSION- The board discussed whether to continue pursuing the
cooperative agreement with Wauneta/Palisade.
ACTION ITEMS- 1. Rosno
moved, seconded by E. Hill, to
consider whether the Hayes Center Board of Education wants to continue pursuing
a cooperative agreement for sports with Wauneta/Palisade School District.
After a lengthy discussion, Richards
moved to amend the main motion, seconded by Brott, that pursuant to a public
forum we would then consider whether to go on with the cooperative agreement.
Voting yes: Richards.
Voting No: B Hill, E Hill, Rosno, Anderjaska, Brott. Amendment failed, 1
-5. After further discussion, the
main motion was reread and voted on. Voting yes: E. Hill, Rosno, Brott. Voting
no: Richards, Anderjaska, B. Hill. Motion failed 3-3.
President Anderjaska thanked those in attendance and
adjourned the meeting at 7:57 P.M.
